New site launches alongside a first data point: none of 22 verified WordPress sites checked — including major publishers and the WordPress ecosystem's own hosting and plugin companies — have yet adopted the new WebMCP standard for AI agents.
Agentic Tech LLC today announced the launch of Site Passport (sitepassport.org), an independent index that checks whether a website — WordPress or otherwise — is safely operable by AI browser agents. The launch coincides with Site Passport's first research finding: of 51 well-known sites reputed to run WordPress, 22 were verified live and scored, and none yet expose a WebMCP manifest, the browser-native standard that lets a site tell an AI agent exactly what it's allowed to do.
WebMCP is an open, in-progress web standard developed under the W3C Web Machine Learning Community Group, co-authored by engineers from both Google and Microsoft. It gives a website a way to declare a small set of safe, structured actions an AI agent can take — searching a catalog, filling in a form — instead of forcing the agent to guess by scraping the rendered page, the same fragile approach browser-automation scripts have always used.
Site Passport verifies readiness the way SSL Labs verifies TLS configuration or Mozilla Observatory verifies HTTP security headers: it pulls a site's own public files directly — llms.txt, robots.txt AI-crawler directives, schema.org markup, and any WebMCP manifest — rather than accepting a self-submitted claim. A free scan is available for any site, WordPress or not, in about ten seconds, with no login required.
"Every other WebMCP directory we could find is a self-submission catalog — you type in a URL, and nobody ever checks it again," said Renier du Plessis, Founder of Agentic Tech LLC. "That only works as a credible index if it isn't run by the company grading everyone else's homework, so we built it as its own product, with its own name and its own published methodology, and said plainly on the site that we're behind it — instead of pretending we're not."
Built by Agent Builder, disclosed plainly
Site Passport is built and operated by Agentic Tech LLC, the Atlanta-based developer of the Agent Builder WordPress plugin — the same relationship the site discloses on its own About page, once and plainly, rather than obscuring it. Its methodology page publishes the exact checks and weights behind every score, and any future featured or sponsored placement in the directory will be labeled as such and will never affect the underlying score. The MCP protocol adapter behind Site Passport's own live, callable index server is published as open source at github.com/renduples/sitepassport-mcp.
What the first data run found
- 0% of verified sites have a WebMCP manifest yet — expected this early, and the entire reason the index exists.
- 41% have adopted llms.txt, the plain-text file that tells an AI system what to read first.
- Only 5% explicitly welcome AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and others) in robots.txt; 23% actively block at least one, and the remaining 73% say nothing either way.
- 100% carry schema.org markup — well-established SEO practice, unlike AI-crawler readiness, which is new.
The full report, including every site checked and the verification method used, is published at sitepassport.org/reports/wordpress-2026.
